Sportz Village

Over the past few months, our work at Sportz Village Foundation has continued across schools, communities and programs alongside important conversations and reflection with partners across the ecosystem.

At the core of #SportForChange is a commitment to improving access to sport for children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds across the country. Our aspiration is to use sport as a vehicle for learning, confidence and opportunity, contributing to Sportz Village's larger vision of enabling 100 million children and young people to play and grow into champions in life. To date, we have reached over 350,000 children across 1,300+ public schools, steady progress grounded in systems, partnerships and scale.

In the past year, we identified key barriers to girls' participation through partner studies and rolled out targeted interventions to increase their involvement in sport. We launched modules strengthening employability outcomes for both sport-related and non-sport career pathways. Our Pathways to Excellence (PW 36) program advanced efforts to identify and nurture grassroots talent, creating clearer pathways connecting young athletes to elite and international opportunities. We took initial steps to increase community participation and ownership in select clusters, building toward locally anchored sport ecosystems. We also convened conversations through roundtables and the GKTP podcast to deepen understanding of sport's developmental role.

Our focus continues on strengthening foundations, improving quality, building capability and contributing to an ecosystem that values sustained outcomes. We will keep embedding sport both as a 'horizontal' across education, gender, inclusion and employability and as a 'vertical' in health, wellness and athletic excellence. In the coming year, we'll roll out technology-driven programming for low-cost sports education in government schools and continue investing in collective evidence creation and best-practice toolkits to accelerate ecosystem-wide adoption. Sport's true impact lies not in isolated interventions, but in how thoughtfully it integrates into the systems that shape learning, inclusion and opportunity.

We are grateful to our partners who continue to engage with openness and intent and look forward to building the next phase together.

The #SportForChange Roundtable series brings together CSR leaders, sport-for-development practitioners and corporate stakeholders to strengthen the role of sport in India’s development agenda. The conversations move beyond isolated efforts, aligning policy, practice and long-term impact through collaboration.

A conversation on the next phase of CSR - moving from compliance to meaningful, long-term impact. The discussion highlights how sport can strengthen development efforts through systems thinking, partnerships and sustained community value.

  • CSR must shift from reporting to real contribution.
  • Impact grows when programs align with larger social systems.
  • Long-term change depends on strong partnerships.

Over the past quarter, Sportz Village Foundation’s work continued to focus on expanding access to structured sport and physical education, while strengthening the systems that support quality delivery on the ground.

As conversations around CSR and development continue to mature, there is an opportunity to engage with sport in more focused, intentional ways - aligning purpose, policy and on-ground outcomes.

  • Strengthening physical education and school sport systems, especially in underserved contexts
  • Increasing participation and retention of girls in sport, with a focus on safe and enabling environments
  • Coach and educator capacity building, particularly in regions where access to quality training remains limited
  • Community-based sport programs in priority geographies, including aspirational districts and low-income urban communities
Let’s partner to create lasting impact
